Germantown

March 23rd, 2013

I’m taking a class at Watkins College of Art, Design & Film (where I also teach) this semester called Documentary Photography. One of our assignments was to spend a morning in the Germantown neighborhood of Nashville taking photographs. I wandered around the area for about two hours taking lots of photos. It’s an incredibly interesting neighborhood located just north of downtown. It is one of the oldest neighborhoods in Nashville and it is also in a very dramatic period of transition. There is construction and activity on almost every block. Beautiful old houses, many well over a hundred years old, share the streets with new apartment complexes, businesses, warehouses, old crumbling shacks and more. I took photos of anything that looked interesting to me. Here are twenty of my favorites from the day.

Nice eye there Steve. I hope you keep looking closely and taking interesting photos. There’s nothing better than good B&W photos.
