I saw Anthony Weiner on Real Time With Bill Maher last night (September 11, 2009). Though I try to stay current on politics and watch a fair amount of politically orientated TV (Morning Joe, Rachel Maddow, Hardball, Countdown With Keith Olbermann) this is the first time I’ve run across Congressman Weiner. Very impressive guy. The discussion mostly centered around health care and I have to say, Weiner was one of the best proponents I’ve heard yet. The Democrats really need to get this guy out there on the talk shows more. He’s intelligent, knowledgeable, eloquent, inspiring and very sharp. I found it very refreshing that he was willing to point out that Obama has made some serious mistakes and miscues over the course of the health care debate. He wasn’t afraid to point these out AND offer solutions as to how things could be done better. This guy has a serious future ahead of him and I expect we’ll be seeing a lot more of him in the future. I don’t know a lot yet about where he stands on other issues I care about, but from what I saw last night, this is the kind of Democrat we need on the front lines.
